Went to Jasper today. Met with our hotel contact to discuss all of our plans. Went to a bakery and got an amazing quote for a cake. Got to meet our photographer in person, and enjoyed discussing all kinds of wedding stuff with her. Finally met the DJ, and he had a lot of good suggestions and was positive, too.
We had a great day. Our first appointment was at 9 a.m., so we were up pretty early to make sure we got there on time. By the time we left 7 hours later, I was exhausted.* After having planned extra time for each of the appointments to make sure we wouldn't be rushed, we ended up with a bit of spare time in between the first and second appointment. SO, we went to the bakery and inquired about cakes. We looked through a portfolio, discussed cakes and options and how it will all work with her (no appointment necessary) and we now have a cake ordered. :)
We still had some extra time, so we went to the cafe where we were meeting the photographer and had a quick lite lunch (I had chicken soup, Chris had a muffin) before she arrived. She is fantastic, friendly, easygoing, and will totally mesh with my plan of simple, casual and fun. She had a lot of great suggestions, and we've now gotten everything photography-related checked off my list of to-do's. Except for making a list of 'Must-have' photographs (which can wait).
Our meeting with the DJ went similarily fantastic, after Chris and I figured out where we were supposed to be. (We arranged to meet in the lobby of one of the hotels, and we went to the wrong one... hee hee hee - totally my fault.) It was a 2 minute drive to the hotel we were supposed to meet at. Meh. Sh!t happens.
So, all in all, we just have a few things left on the MUST DO BY THE END OF THE MONTH list.
Yay!
My favorite part of the whole day? Chris was there with me. He now knows what everything looks like. How everything will happen. Where everything will happen. Now he will have more of a feel for what I am babbling on about when I talk about the wedding. We had a great day, and I am soooooo glad. We got home, and started some work on other wedding stuff.
*I was mostly exhausted because I went to the doctor yesterday after suffering 2.5 days with swollen glands, swollen tongue, sore throat/jaw/ears. I was finally able to make it to the doctor (no appointments available, had to do the walk-in thing) and then waited two hours to get in to see the doc. Thankfully, the doc on walk-in duty was my own doctor. I'm now on antibiotics & Advil COld & sinus to clear up all of the swelling, pain and whatever else. (Sinusitus, btw.)
I don't know if it is the antibiotics, the advil or a combination of the two, but about 40 minutes after I take them, I feel like I need a nap. Something in there is draining all of my energy. Comes back after about 2 hours.
Left to do... order stationary stuff we picked out. Talk to florist. Get together bridemaid dress info and order that. Figure out groomsmen stuff. Relax.
Not too bad. :)
